The Value of Entertainment Insurance

No one likes to think about having an insurance claim, but accidents can and do happen. That is why you buy insurance in the first place. Every so often, we like to share examples of the claims that are common in the entertainment industry.

  • A production company was filming a commercial in Los Angeles CA, and the company had $30,000 of equipment stored in a truck. While the production was stopped for lunch, a car hit the truck and most of the equipment was damaged. The driver of the vehicle had no insurance. Fortunately, the production company had property insurance on their equipment and the claim was covered minus the deductible.
  • An event planner scheduled a concert and had presold $100,000 worth of tickets. Three days prior to the event, the venue had a fire.  The event planner had Event Cancelation Insurance and had the resources to settle all claims and reschedule the event for a later date.
  • A post production company was hired to produce 10,000 CD’s for a motivational speaker. The CD’s were to be ready for sale prior to a big event the speaker had scheduled. Due to production issues, the firm missed the release time and the speaker sued the firm for lost revenue.
